Human-Elephant Conflict Resolution

  • Human-Elephant Conflict Resolution

As human populations expand and natural habitats shrink, conflicts between communities and wild elephants have become increasingly frequent and severe. These encounters often lead to crop damage, property loss, and even human and elephant fatalities.

Our mission is to promote peaceful coexistence through innovative, community-led solutions such as early warning systems, eco-fencing, sustainable land use practices, and education initiatives.

By empowering local communities and working closely with conservation partners, we aim to reduce conflict, protect livelihoods, and promote coexistence through shared value systems, conflict prevention, and awareness, ensuring a future where both people and elephants can thrive.

What we do

Our initiative focuses on peaceful coexistence between people and elephants through innovative and community-driven solutions. We implement early warning systems to alert villages of elephant movement, train community patrol teams in safe deterrence methods, and introduce eco-friendly fencing like beehives, chili barriers, and solar-powered electric fencing (new project). By creating elephant corridors and restoring natural habitats, we reduce the need for elephants to enter farmland. We work with local authorities on long-term strategies, offer crop-loss compensation, and provide alternative livelihoods to affected families.

  • Early warning systems to alert communities about elephant movement.
  • Community patrol and response teams trained in non-violent deterrence.
  • Eco-Friendly Fencing Solutions: Beehives and chili fences as natural barriers to protect crops. And solar-powered electric fencing.
  • Creation of elephant corridors to ensure safe and uninterrupted migration routes.
  • Collaboration with local authorities and conservation agencies for long-term solutions.
  • Habitat restoration to reduce elephants’ need to enter farmlands
  • Crop-loss compensation and livelihood support for affected families
  • Education and awareness programs to promote coexistence
  • Sustainable land-use planning to reduce human-elephant overlap.
  • Promoting community-based ecotourism in elephant roaming areas to create income and incentivize conservation over conflict.
