Saving Jumbo Project

Our initiative focuses on peaceful coexistence between people and elephants through innovative and community-driven solutions. We implement early warning systems to alert villages of elephant movement, train community patrol teams in safe deterrence methods, and introduce eco-friendly fencing like beehives, chili barriers, and solar-powered electric fencing (new project). By creating elephant corridors and restoring natural habitats, we reduce the need for elephants to enter farmland. We work with local authorities on long-term strategies, offer crop-loss compensation, and provide alternative livelihoods to affected families

Why Sri Lanka?

Sri Lanka faces the highest rate of elephant-human conflict in the world, resulting in the tragic loss of both human and elephant lives every single day. This crisis is urgent, heartbreaking, and growing. At Being Human, we prioritize Sri Lanka because saving its elephants means saving a vital part of our shared heritage and protecting the lives of people who live alongside them. In response to the escalating conflict between humans and elephants, our new project in Sri Lanka focuses on sustainable coexistence. We are launching a multi-pronged initiatives.
